About SWIHSA

Our Story

In 2013, Holiday Health Care started the Southwest Indiana Health Services Academy (SWIHSA) not only to help shape the workers in our industry but also to open an avenue of professional growth for our employees. Through SWIHSA, you can become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care, assisting with activities of daily living, ambulation, and comfort and safety measures. Typical activities for a CNA include bathing and feeding patients, taking vital signs, changing linens, and other tasks relating to keeping patients rooms clean and safe.

Continuing Your Education at Holiday Health Care

CNAs employed with Holiday may be eligible for sponsorship through a Qualified Medical Assistant (QMA) program after 90 days of employment at Holiday. The role of a QMA involves administering both prescription and non-prescription medications to patients and monitoring their reactions. All QMAs start as CNAs. The certification process consists of approximately 100 hours of training in pharmacology and medication information.
